When Is/Was the Time To Buy?!?

Canadian Real Estate...

In the past 5 years we have watched the real estate market come crashing back to Earth after years of incredible demand, incredible!!! Supply increased dramatically and buyers became scarce. As the economy began to recover the inevitable question began to dominate every real estate conversation, "have we hit bottom?"

Telling a Story

Normally my blogs are Wing Creek specific and I will direct you to some new Wing Creek material towards the end of this entry. However, today I wanted to express some insight that I have have gained during my marketing career. Throughout my academic career, myself and my fellow student body had the tried and true marketing practices impressed upon us. From scripting broadcast media to developing effective print ads. These lessons were well taught and the insight offered by our instructors was invaluable. Here's the catch: they don't work anymore!!!

Canadian Environment Week!

Can you believe it has already been a whole year!?!

The State of Kootenay Lake Real Estate

We have the views, the lifestyle, the natural paradise -- but how does the market stack up?

Along with most of the province, with the exception Vancouver, the West Kootenays experienced an economic setback in the housing market from 2007-2010. Today, amidst reports of rebounds in the overall housing market, the West Kootenays are already seeing incredible increases in both listings and prices.

The Challenge of Living in Kaslo

It was seven years ago now that I first stepped foot in Kaslo, BC. I had lived my life in Edmonton, Ottawa, and my first two years of University were spent in Vancouver. Needless to say, the shock of moving into a community with less people than my high school grad class was overwhelming. My first thought was, "what am I going to do with myself?!?"

The Show Home is OPEN!!!

After years of planning, months of design, and what seemed like a never ending stream of paperwork, Wing Creek Resort has its first Hamill Creek Timber Home!!! On May 21st, 2011 we officially opened the Birchgrove Show Home to the public. It was an exciting time for the partnership, the craftsman who built the home, the sales team, and all the trades that worked countless hours. We gathered early to share the moment together and, in an effort to garner some good karma, participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Living in a Strata

Understanding the dynamics of a Strata community can be difficult if you have never lived in one.  Consider a condominium Strata where owners pay monthly and in return the building is maintained for them. In addition, the residents are only responsible for the interior of their apartment. The Strata ensures that garbage is removed, snow is ploughed, the yard is maintained, common areas are cleaned, and sometimes even more. Sound good?

LEEDing the Way!

For starters, how to decide on the title when so many opportunities to play on the LEED are available; Born to LEED, Follow the LEEDer, LEED By Example, Taking the LEED, actually I really like that last one...
